Martin Horner

Martin, born and brought up in England, showed an interest in art from the age of 8 and was encouraged by his Aunt, a well known sculptress who had studied with Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth. After leaving school he entered Halifax technical college to study life drawing and sculpture but then spent 3+ years in the army, during which time he married and served in Kenya and the Mediterranean area.  He started a business in 1980 and over the next 20 years, except while on holiday, had very little time for art.

On retiring in 2002 he and his second wife bought a holiday home on the Costa Blanca where he again took up painting in oils ( his first love in painting). He now belongs to several art societies, and has exhibited, both in Spain and in England (where he was awarded “best in the show” in an event in Halifax).

At the moment most of his painting is done in Spain, where he enjoys exploring new techniques.
