Jenny Rawle

Jenny Rawle was born and educated in southern England studying at Epsom School of Art and Design, and then working as a packaging designer. At 22 years she followed her other love, sailing and travelling and left UK. She lived and worked in Toronto Canada for a year before travelling across the country from east coast to west making sketches along the way. She then started living in, and cruising sailboats in the Mediterranean before sailing with her boyfriend on his small sailboat, down the Red Sea, across the Indian Ocean, to the Maldives. She spent one year there, then moved to Sri Lanka for two years, where she opened a shop for tourists, selling her hand printed t-shirts and designer clothing - eventually helping to deliver a yacht from Sri Lanka back to the Med.  She worked as a chef on luxury yachts in Greece for a year before moving to the south of France for six months, then Majorca for six. She then helped deliver a yacht from France to the Caribbean and it was there she met her husband to be, and they settled in the British Virgin Islands for the next 17 years. Both worked as captains on charter yachts. They lived on their 41 ft. boat and every year explored the area in the “off” season, down the islands to Trinidad and Venezuela or north to Bahamas and USA. After 10 years they had two children, unable to work as a Captain, Jenny joined a local art group and took up painting again!  The family moved to Alfaz del Pi, Spain, in 97 and she joined Artists Unlimited. Jenny draws on her travel experiences and love of the sea to create vibrant, expressive works. She finds pastel suits her style but also works in oil and watercolour. She has been successful in taking commissions for pastel portraits which she makes from Photos often having never seen her “model”! She has exhibited with Artists Unlimited over the past 7 years.
